Friends of Twollars
We love you guys! Twollars exists because of these people, and many more like them. We couldn’t have done it without them! I have organized the list in alphabetical order (based on first name). There are still a lot of people missing on this list and we’re taking time everyday to add more people to it. If you’re not on it yet, please feel free to drop us a line at contact@twollars.com. You are most likely already on our radar.
Alan Rosenblith (AlanRosenblith)
Alan was one of the first people to contact us after we launched. He had just finished producing his film The Money Fix and quickly saw the overlap between the contents in his documentary and the potential of Twollars. We had several long discussion out of which the MultiCurrency experiment grew. Due to Alan we got in contact with dozens of incredible people in whats called the OpenMoney space. His insights in the MultiCurrency experiment and helping us design it have been invaluable.
Claire Ulrich (ClairInParis)
Claire has been fantastic in assisting us with our French localization efforts. Suggestion many small changes but ones which have had a large impact. She also gave us insight in how to explain Twollars in just a few sentences. Claire has been a driving force in promoting Twollars in Paris, she spoke at CrisisCamp Paris presenting Twollars with Christophe and Marc.
Christophe Ducamp (xtof_fr)
C
hristophe founded the French Twollars Wiki, and has been an incredible force in bringing together the French Twollars community. He organized the first Paris Twollars dinner. He invited us to OpenKitchen, where I had a fantastic meal with him, Marc Tirel and Dylan Devillers. He was one of the leaders in the first localization of Twollars to French and will help us again with this new version. Christophe has also taken the time repeatedly to endure long Skype calls with me (Eiso Kant), and in those he gave me brilliant insights.

Emmanuel Gadenne (egadenne)
Emmanuel is a member of a group called ExplorateursDuWeb, where Marc and Christophe are members of as well. Emmanuel has been fantastic in promoting Twollars. He has a large following on Twitter and his blog, and has never shied away of giving Twollars, mentioning us on his blog and embedding videos. Where Emmanuel has really gone the extra mile is when we started running experiments with Twollars. One of those experiments is called Exploracoeurs. He took it on him to be the currency manager. Emmanuel has not only spent a huge amount of time promoting Twollars but an even larger amount of time giving us feedback. Taking the time to chat with us and tweet us countless of suggestions. If you have a question about Twollars and wanted an answer, Emmanuel often beat with his speedy response.
Fadhila Brahimi (fbrahimi)
I met Fadhila during the Paris Twollars dinner. She had her netbook with her and was tweeting Twollars from the restaurant. Fadhila gave us amazing insights on digital identity, management 2.0 and on the consulting work she does for large corporations. Fadhila made a huge impact on Twollars with her French screencast. She created a screencast explaining every inch of Twollars in French. Her YouTube video was embeded in almost a dozen French blogposts after she published it.
Laurel LaFlamme (onlinedesign)
Laurel has been an amazing Twollars evangelist. Her Twitter bio reads “A Twollars Evangelist building relationships that matter in business & in life!”. It’s incredible to see people half way across the world who are as passionate about what you’re doing as you are. Laurel has tweeted Twollars to many, many people. She has also taken the time to explain Twollars to many people and has also been recommending it to charities on Twitter.
Marc Tirel (mtirel)
When the first French Twollars tweets started coming by over our screens Marc’s name was always there. At the time I happened to be in Grenoble, France and got in touch with him. The week before that, Marc had already kindly introduced me to Phil Jeudy who was asked by the French community to meet me in Barcelona since we were both there at the time. When in Grenoble, I started emailing and tweeting back and forth with Marc. Not only did he give us fantastic ideas for Twollars, he also invited me to stay with him in Paris. After my stay in Grenoble I went to Paris where Marc was waiting for me to pick me up at the station. I was welcomed with an incredible kindness at his home and had a fantastic time meeting the Paris Twollars community. Marc was also one of the very first people to blog about Twollars and the first to spread the word in France.
Michael Linton (mwl)
We met Michael in London just before our trip to the US. What Michael didn’t know when met him is that we had read almost every piece he wrote, had listened to countless of his blog talk radio interviews with Ernie Yacub and had watched several of his presentations on YouTube. Michael’s community way model had been an inspiration for us when designing Twollars. After having a fantastic evening with Michael talking about Twollars and OpenMoney initiatives we felt we were all very much aligned. Michael has given Twollars his support. We have had many great Skype conversations since and Michael also presented Twollars at San Francisco Barcamp Banking 2.
Parminder Chhabra (pchhabra)
I met Parminder when in Barcelona several weeks after the launch of Twollars. We met at the Mobile 2.0 event being held after Mobile World Congress. He had overheard me doing an interview on Seesmic with Phil Jeudy. That evening, we had a great conversation during the after-event-dinner and we met again the next day. He is an incredibly intelligent individual who has not just given us fantastic advice (he was the one pushing us to implement Paypal for charities) but he has a become a personal friend. After I left Barcelona, we continued to talk on Skype about Twollars. I just returned (May 2009) after spending 5 days in Barcelona with Parminder; talking about a variety of topics, including how to use mobile technology and Twollars to help on the ground efforts in the developing countries. Amongst many things he’s taught me the importance of imagining an idea first and only afterwords thinking about the barriers.
Robert Scoble (scobleizer)
Even though Robert prefers FriendFeed over Twitter, he took the time to meet with me while I was in San Francisco. He shot a video interview in which I explain Twollars. His video has been embedded in dozens of blog posts and received over 1000 views. Robert was also the first person with a major (80,000+) following on Twitter to send Twollars. This led to a whole new group of people hearing about Twollars, thereby opening a lot of doors for us.
